Despite the stress from my strokes, the fears of having a heart attack and the reality of being disabled, 2019 was a terrible year.
I had to switch surgeons for a major operation that had complications. My sick leave took its sweet time, so my bank account was dwindling. Then, I had restrictions that my job claimed they couldn’t accommodate, so I was staring down the fact that I might be unemployed.
Fortunately, my job found a way. My father helped me grocery shopping, only for me to get angry insults from my aunt. She told me to stop calling my dad for help and have my friends help instead.
He was furious, and rightly so.
Further in the year, I visited my mom when I knew it was safe and hugged her. She held me for 15 minutes. I know because I counted. She said “they” were always looking for me, so to be careful.
For context, my mother lived in a residential facility that ensured she got her medication ans go to doctor’s appointments on time. For her to have break through psychosis was very concerning.
I had to buy new tires, and the next day I came to pick them up at the auto shop. I got a call where the staff abruptly hung up. Next thing I know, a detective travels over 15 miles to reach me. Only to explain he’s a homicide detective.
Then he told me my mom died.
My mother died, with no arrangements. I ended up nearly losing my mind. My blood pressure spiked. I went back into debt to pay for my mom’s arrangements.
After her services were done, I found out the company that owned the store I was in was closing the store. We got less than a 30 day notice. I transferred to another store.
Feb 2020, was laid off.
March 6, 2020 got a new job.
Less than 2 weeks later (March 17, 2020) my father and aunt were in a near fatal car accident.
And.. I don’t know if I should even mention more of 2020.
2019 was a nightmare because I lost my mom.
Things went downhill after that.
