My Mother’s Name Was Donna

Daily writing prompt
Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

You know… I was just talking about this in the car with a friend today. Years ago, I did an interview of my mom for an assignment. When I mentioned to my aunt that I was going to interview my mom, she asked: “Why her? I’m smarter than her!”

My response? “While you just might be smarter, unlike you, my mother actually earned a Bachelor’s Degree… unless you got anything that you’ve never mentioned. No? Didn’t think so…”

That shut my aunt up quickly.

This is one of the very few things I had from my mother. No clue what year this was done, but… I feel so warm looking at her handwriting.

And now I’m going to share it. I never thought I’d have the chance to.

I tried to leave in all the mistakes and errors she made. Found out after she died that she was likely dyslexic.

I have problems spelling. And while my mother had problems telling her left from her right, I have a problem not twisting numbers up. I’m probably dyslexic too, but how do I even get tested at nearly 40 years of age?

Edit @ 12:09AM

My mother had problems with numbers. Hated math.

I despise math. I used to have negative when it was positive and positive when it was negative. Sometimes would have it read: 46:64, when it was 46.46. I also used to write my N’s backwards.
