“God give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
It was engraved on an old plaque my mother had from the Poconos way back in the 80s. When I deal with trying circumstances, I try to remind myself of it.
Not surprisingly, there’s an entire diagram of “Things I Can Control” and “Things I Can’t Control” in the psychiatrist’s waiting room–though I don’t know if he’s ever heard of the “Serenity Prayer.”
Lots and lots of positive affirmations in there too.
