It All Depends Really…

Daily writing prompt
How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

I try to look at the potential “interference” with an open mind.

I’ve seen at times that what was supposed to potentially interrupt my plans actually pushed me closer to my goals. And sometimes being redirected might not be a bad thing. It might add an element of enjoyment to what you’re doing.

IE: Me desperately needing home repairs… at least a new tank. Was trying to figure out where to get the money needed and was urged by a friend to apply and keep in contact with a local assistance program.

At first, I was annoyed with the constant calls and emails whilst I’m trying to figure out what else I can do and knowing assistance programs can take a long time. Debated dipping into my gradually depleting savings.

Debated taking out a loan.

Then, my focus turned to the program itself instead of relying on myself.

End Result? The assistance program started working much earlier than they would have normally (for anyone) and did so much repair work here that they exceeded the budget they normally have for homeowners.

Much more work is still needed, but I now know the benefits of just “waiting to see” what happens and just go with it.

I’ve applied and will apply again this summer to see if they can do anything else.
