How BPD =/= DID

Daily writing prompt
What’s something most people don’t understand?

I am bipolar, have major depressive disorder and anxiety.

And…

I have BPD, which is borderline personality disorder. It means that I have issues with being alone. I have issues controlling my mood, and I am very unstable in relationships.

Often, I feel like I’m being attacked when I’m not. It’s hard for me to think otherwise when in a disagreement.

My mood stabilizer helps a bit with it… along with me being on the phone for hours or bombarding myself with a TV going… for hours at a time. Not even watching it. Just hearing the sounds.

DID involves multiple personalities that come about due to a variety of reasons. Each of these personalities have their own distinctiveness to them. Different thoughts and feelings.

Could someone with DID have BPD?

No clue, but with how mental illnesses are, I think it’s possible.

What I was unfortunately reminded of recently… is that when you say borderline personality disorder, they only latch onto the “personality” part, then get confused at the “borderline” part… then assume it means multiple personalities.

Oh… I also don’t like it when people using the word “bipolar” as if it’s part of daily casual language.

Like…

“Oh my gosh, you’re so bipolar!” when it should be “Oh my gosh, you’re so stupid!”
