It’s So Strange

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I’m a very open person about most things… though there are certain things that I don’t even share with my psychiatrist. A very good piece of advice I received was technically two fold.

The first one told me this: “Be careful who you share personal information with.”

So… I had that on board. I’ve become much more observant since.

The second part of that advice was: “Don’t always talk about your health problems. They can be depressing.”

Now… that second one took me aback a bit.

On my blog, I discuss the mental and physical health issues I have. It’s a well know fact–if you’re just tuning in–Hello!

It’s known I have many problems. I haven’t even shared all of them. It’s to the point that I carry a folded up paper that lists my health problems and my medication, along with a short list of my doctors.

How do you describe how below the hair you have issues?

But… after some reflection, I realized the second bit of advice was also good. That’s why I’ve been struggling to be more positive in my blog posts.

It benefits no one, especially not myself if all I talk about are problems.

So… I like talking about my artwork, my (sad) attempt at crochet (unable to properly start)… and my inability to end a line while knitting (sloppy attempts to create knots at the beginning too.

I recently dug out my easel… which has been on the porch for about 19 years now?

Yiiikes. I just remember when I started college.

Was too dumb to finish, but I did attend at one point in time.

Tens of thousands were obviously wasted on me…

…Ahem…

I thought I would never do art again after I quit college, so I got rid of my acrylics and brushes and also tossed out my bamboo pen.

I also foolishly threw out my Rembrandt pastels.

Those things were so expensive…

Now… I’m torn. I’m back to drawing and using crayons or color pencils, but should I attempt to do anything with pastels again?

Should I try oil painting (which I’ve never done and it sounds messy) or maybe try to get into artwork with this laptop + GIMP software?

All I know–for right now–is that I spent an entire hour in the living room cleaning… all to let the robot vacuum go after me to catch anything left.

I have a great name for her: “Taylor Sweeps”

Cheesy, I know.

Hmm…. what was the topic of this blog again?
