At times, I worry if I’m my own the crosshairs. I attempted to joke with one of my friends today.

I think she was lost for a second.

I do it often with my readers.

My off-handed comment to her went along these lines: “Man, I hope that author decides to update. I’ve no honest clue.”

Her response? “I thought you were the writer.”

I had one of those face cracking grins and repeated it. “Yeah, yeah. I know. Still, I wonder if she is going to update at all. Y’know she’s a bit – eh – with updating.”

Her response? “But aren’t you the writer?”

She got it once I explained it’s one of my extremely corny jokes that I’ve made on my blog.

This is in reference to my fanfic of “The Croods.” It’s titled: “Catch & Release,” and I found out that I’m the only person penning a fanfic with Dawn Betterman/Guy (The Croods). I’m the sole one using that tag on AO3.

No clue how I feel about that really…

Later, I texted my friend and said: “So, I checked. She said she’s not sure, has to think about it. Might start working on it when she hits 75-80 views.” Then explained the views were up to 69.

I’ve no clue who that is, but slow down!

I just checked, and now I’m up to 70. ~_~

I suppose Miss Lyst will need to create an actual series with that fic, since the original one is a ‘short.’

Dang… I wonder what she’ll write.

Speaking for myself, I honestly have 0 clue. I never do much planning for the chapters. I just let them write themselves. I think what’s slowing me down with NtC is that I’ve sent myself into a frightened tailspin… thinking that I have to write not one but two chapters of fresh content that doubles as filler and revise chapters in between after I do that.

THEN slap another brand-new chapter on the back end of all of them. So, from 18 chapters suddenly up to 21.

I’m sort of getting the hang of my schedule (kind of), and the new restrictions are forcing me to actually go to bed at a reasonable hour. Still can’t find the right time for exercise though. Since I’m usually running around doing chores while I’m supposed to be exercising.

I’ve done over two miles today in my house, going up and down the stairs. That has to count for something… right??

So… Now on the docket is a plan for a ‘potential’ series following after ‘Catch & Release,’ eleven revisions for ‘Open Arms’ and a new updated chapter, and 6-10 revisions for ‘Navigating the Curve,’ along with three addition chapters – set in different areas.

Hmm… Maybe I should bullet point this?

  • Catch & Release |
    • Currently only one listing, a ‘short.’Potential outlines for an entire ‘series.’
    • Chapter minimum wordcount: 4,000.
  • Navigating the Curve |
    • 18 chapters at current.
    • Chapter minimum wordcount: 10,000.
    • Revision of 6-10 chapters needed, potentially revising all 18.
      • Especially after the updates/shifts.
    • Will then add 3 chapters of brand-new content, two of them between existing chapters and 1 after the latest chapter.
      • Consider revising the ‘scene’ between Jen and Peter in the hospital. Keep it clean.
      • Brand new updated outline so as to place chapters in correct locations.
      • Readjust and recount each chapter and date them – in notes only. Ugh… Then backdate to adjust properly.
      • Set as a mass update/upload.
        • Readers will be in shock; some might want to kill me.
  • Open Arms |
    • 11 chapters at current.
    • Chapter minimum wordcount: 4,000.
    • Revision requires entire rewrite of all 11 chapters. New chapter added.
      • Set as a mass update/upload.

And after all of that? Rest… I’ve been absent over a year now. I owe them that for their patience.
