I’ve been running my PC for over 24 hours. Insane, I know, right? I normally reboot it at least once a day.
I had a reason though.
I assumed that I had deleted just a few files off a flash drive.
So I went and picked up restoration software… only to find that the restored files were LARGER in size altogether… than the flash drive they were supposed to be on.
Flash drive spose to hold 250GB, which we know is more like 239? The files however? Nearly half a terabyte.
Which meant that the files I deleted off my harddrive were never really backed up.
Now, I’m panicking because I have an SSD and once stuff is deleted, it technically stays gone.
Long story short, I found software that could restore most if not all of the files. The problem is unfortunately… that many of them are corrupt. Maybe 30 or so out of over 300 files.
To retrieve as much as was done, I had to have the PC running all night. It was nerve wracking.
And of course… To get all of the files, I had to pay for the software.
RIP my wallet.
So now I’m dealing with the repair software, which costs about the same as the restoration software. And my wallet has skinny and starving moths inside of it.
I hate this, and I feel so foolish! I videotaped a wedding of two of my good friends, and I’m worried that video might be lost to the tide.
: (
I also videotaped various memorial services. I recorded my meetings… I’m really upset with myself.
I believe the audio survived, yes… But unfortunately, I don’t know what all might have been lost. We’re talking about half a terabyte.
Yes, I record big big files.
I’m now debating the wisdom of obtaining a large SSD external harddrive… At least that way, I’ll know the files are actually stored and not lost and forgotten somewhere.
Ugh…

Of course, once again I got 0 cleaning done. I have stuff to do in the AM.
FFTN!
