The title I should have for this blog post came quite easily. Seeing as I’m currently watching a movie. It’s a very strange one.
I’m a fan of shows like Star Trek, and so I’ve been drawn in by this movie…
However… The entire movie so far, over 74 minutes of it are the memories of the main character. Now, I’m sitting here with the movie paused at the 1:17:55 mark, with 11:30 minutes left in the movie…
All to find out that apparently what happened was a delusion of the main character. At least I think that is how it is going to go.
I’m honestly… disappointed. I mean, I’d read that Tim Russ and Martina Sirtis were in the movie and I’m very embarrassed to admit that I completely forgot who Miss Sirtis was.
Considering I watched her on TV for years back in the 90s… Yikes.
However, the main character saw these “aliens” that looked like giant ants… but I question whether or not she actually saw anything at all. In the section I’m in, the medication she’s taken deals with a particular psychiatric issue.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Therefore… it is imperative that you keep taking your medication if you are a psychiatric patient. If you suddenly stop taking your meds, whatever benefit you have will be gone swiftly.
Even if you miss like 2 or 3 days.
Then, it’ll take another 30 days for you to feel “normal” again. However, because of the particular type of medication I’m on, I had 1 day of a missed dose and my cognitive function took a nosedive.
I forgot and misplaced my wallet, my keys and couldn’t find my pants. And I was over an hour late to see my psychiatrist. However, what is very nice is that she still saw me. A friend of mine suggested I go seek out a different doctor to deal with my mental health issues because the doc really can be quite slow.
However, because of the fact that she still will see her patients regardless, I can’t complain. I think it’s been about three times that I’ve arrived at my appointment and ended up waiting for her.
Last appointment, some random old dude tried to claim he had an appointment at the same time as me. I just stared at him, cos I knew as slow as she was… no way on earth would they schedule her for two appointments at one time.
She kinda reminds me of one of my former general practitioners. I would get to his office and always be late leaving. I used to request the entire day off. This is how it would go:
- Arrive at 8:50AM
- Appointment was at 9AM.
- Front Desk staff refuses to let me in the door, and I have to stand there growing at the door and repetitively knocking to get in.
- At 9:30AM, still waiting outside.
- 9:45AM – Let in the office. Now they’re trying to say I’m late, and I’m fighting the urge to strangle someone. I was still the first patient in.
- 10:30AM – Still waiting to see the doctor.
- 11:15AM – Told the doctor will see me soon.
- 12:29PM – Gets bathroom key to go pee.
- 1:05PM – Looking at all of the other frustrated patients waiting in there.
- Once again realizing that this doctor primarily has elderly patients and doesn’t care because he assumes all of their time is free.
- 1:42PM – Taken back to see doctor.
- 1:50PM – Doctor finally comes in to talk to me.
- 1:56PM – Doctor waddles sideways after an extremely brief conversation.
- 2:25PM – Found out that I was to wait in the Waiting Room. Was told to wait there because he would be “right back”.
- 2:30PM – I tell the staff that I’m picking up my prescriptions and want to schedule my next appointment.
- 2:55PM – The lady at the front wonders why I’ve returned AGAIN to get my prescription.
- 3:18PM – The horribly painted (with garish make-up) woman at the front is still trying to print my prescription.
- 3:30PM – I get the bathroom key to go to the bathroom again.
- 4:15PM – Woman at desk finally gives me my prescription and tells me to give her one moment to get my next appointment set up.
- 4:30PM – When their office is suppose to close, but there’s still a lot of people in there.
- 4:50PM – I get offerings for my next appointment.
- 4:51PM – I make my appointment, get the card and leave.
- 5:01PM – Use the bathroom before I leave.
- 5:30PM – Decided to drive home, now stuck in rush hour traffic.
Needless to say… I totally replaced that doctor. It didn’t make any sense at all. His staff was extremely lazy and rude. I’ve told them before they should pay the patients for having to sit so doggone long.
Fortunately, my psychiatrist isn’t quite that slow… There are a lot of people who have lost what few marbles they had. Like the guy who threatened to blow up her car or shoot her cos he wrongly assumed she stole from him.
When you’re around other mentally unstable and potentially violent people, you can’t drag your feet that much.
Those delays with that primary though… This is also why I tend to carry snacks in my bag. Because you never know… y’know?
Ah well, enough yammering. Time for me to find out how this movie ends.
I’m assuming that it will end with more of a squirrel’s fart than a elephant’s triumphant oomph!
