If The Bears Can Do It…

Weird fact: Polar Bears have black skin. And their fur is colorless and comprised of hollow tubes.

I’ve known that for a long time though.

ANNNYWAY… The reason I mentioned them is because they and I have something very much in common. Well… technically yes and technically no. I don’t know ‘bout polar bear grooming, but they do get into freezing cold water and swim for quite some distance.

As for me? I take showers with freezing cold water.

Because I have no hot water tank. Well… That is not quite accurate either. I do have a hot water tank, but it’s not working anymore. And there’s a pool of water in my basement still. I still have 0 clue where the water came from, but at this point, I’m sure it’s the hot water tank.

I’ve already been asked if a pipe burst, and I don’t know about that either. I haven’t gone down there since the temperature hit the single digits. Earlier today, the weather app declared that it was 8 degrees, but felt like -3 out there.

Yiiikes! Then again, I went out there with a jacket and crocs on… no socks or hat about a half hour ago to get mail.

It was quite chilly, but only 17 degrees tonight.

Heh…

I have apparently acquired some new abilities due to necessity. I can numb myself to the cold water faster and since I’m already cold, I can handle the temperatures outside with fewer problems.

Do I go right outside after showers? Sure do!

I’ve been doing that for welllll over a decade.

The only downer today was the headache I acquired because I literally was dousing my scalp with ice water. Yesterday, I put my head in a bucket of water to soak, soap, and then rise my hair.

Honestly, immersion in freezing water felt better because I felt like all the actual dirt was being rinsed off my body. I felt gross due to washing up with a bucket of warm water yesterday.

Hmmm. I had originally planned to title this blog post “Serendipity”, or some thesaurus.com equivalent.

Oh well. I did find a device that’s supposed to be able to pump water through a hose like a showerhead. From a gallon bucket.

Will see how it goes.

Time for my nighttime reading, then on to the SIMS4!!

HOO! YAY!

Oh, and I know I never addressed how old my hot water tank was. So… I’m older than it, and it’s 35 years old!

So…

Yah!
