Go For Broke

We had a really interesting discussion today. About all of the recent shootings in the area and all of the thefts.

I’m annoyed that I have to have major packages (including medical supplies) sent to adjacent states. That of course is because even if it says “Medical”, the thieves in this area will be drooling all over themselves to steal it.

I also explained to my friend that the way people are these days, it’s best not to have anything at all.

If you have a nice car, people will steal it. If you have a hoopty, people will steal all the tires and smash the windows.

If you own a home, people will try to break in.

If you have an apartment, “maintenance” workers will come in and steal from you.

I’m actively working to get rid of major and “expensive” appearing items. My old piano that I can’t use? Yeah, that thing has to go as well. And it’ll go in pieces…

I wonder if a malfunctioning washing machine counts as a luxury item? I’ve no clue.

I literally have money just in kitchen appliances and that’s really it.

It’s hilarious really.

Though… I really do enjoy my dishwasher. That thing has literally saved my bacon. I purchased a saddle stool so I could do dishes at the sink without straining myself. However, the dishwasher takes a lot of effort out of me cleaning up in the kitchen.

I end up struggling in the middle of doing laundry. It’s hard and sweaty work… but I really enjoy having clean clothes. My clothes look extra clean too.

It’s strange.

The combination of mobile washer, buckets and wringer all work together to literally keep me distracted for two or more hours.

I’m currently debating adding more items down in the basement to aid me in getting the laundry done easier.

My friend and I saw a washing machine that was selling for $800. About three days later, we walked past it again and it was $505.

I honestly want to cry. I have so many repairs that are needed in this house and a new washer would make things so much easier. However, the lack of actual funding makes that a pipe dream.

Although… I also like my new electric spin scrubber. It makes cleaning in the bathroom – specifically the tub – ten times easier.

Maybe I just need to buy additional stools? Like rolling ones? That might help. If I can sit down in the basement, I’ll be good to go in terms of doing laundry.

Pffeh.

I need to just make a list of things that I need in the house to make it easier to work.

……Sometimes I think about all of those DIY channels where they go and do a whole remodel of their home.

And it looks so nice…

And then I think about my own situation and want to cry.

Then I consider that it’s good for me to have a roof over my head.

So, the sadness eases up a bit.

My home needs fixed…

My brain does too.

But… well…

All things in time.
