Often, I wonder what I’m really doing. There are so many things out there that I want to do, but because of either physical or psychological restraints, I can’t.
Then… I find something that I not only can do, but I really enjoy doing.
I always thought that jewelry was ‘too girly-girl’ for me to get involved in. And yes, I said ‘girly-girl’. I grew up doing things that boys did, like playing football, playing with remote controlled cars, playing with science kits and also with wood carving kits.
That last one – the wood carving kits – is what led me to be interested in carpentry.
Unfortunately, my math is terrible.
That doesn’t stop me from eventually turning to whittling to fill the time.
For right now though, I’ll see about getting the jewelry shaped and prepped.
And baked.
And sanded.
And painted.
And sealed.
My next set of earrings are going to be a nightmare to make. Finding a buyer will be even more difficult.
There are platforms, listings and then the shipping that will be a nightmare. Since there’s so much package theft and dishonesty, I have to figure out if I’d want to offer refunds in that case.
What name do I sell under? My legal name or Juliette Lyst? So many questions…
~J. Lyst
