I grew up watching the Williams sisters, so I sorta liked tennis for a bit. We were encouraged to and watched them when I was middle school. Inside the school. You just never saw black, female tennis players like that, and the teachers wanted us to see what we could aspire to.
Obviously, I never got into a sport!
I was a big fan of Joanie Laurer years ago. My mother mentioned this wrestler by describing her as XENA, except a lot taller.
So, I tuned into the WWE Smackdown.

Joanie was a very sensitive person, and it’s heartbreaking–what happened between her and Paul. I’ve had no respect at all for Paul Levesque ever since that stuff happened.
She kinda went off the deep end… and I stopped watching.
I’ll also note this… as a fanfiction writer, I know that I could write a fantastic story of them actually staying together… but it seems to wrong because they were real people.
Wrong and just… sad. I don’t want to have to do research on them, knowing the reality of Joanie being gone.
