I Like Questions Like These

Daily writing prompt
What are your favorite types of foods?

I have a variety of different foods I enjoy. Many of them are desserts. I enjoy cheese, and when I’m at Costco or on Amazon, I’m drawn to the unusual cheeses that aren’t in most grocery stores.

Sheep cheese? Dry. Very, very dry…

Goat cheese can be found in different area.

I’ve had an imported Swiss that came in once. My dad asked if he could have some to make a grilled cheese. I calmly explained that I would cut the sandwich out of him if he tried. That particular cheese was $20/lb.

There are a variety of vegetables that I also enjoy and am willing to try. I’ve never had chard… or maybe I did and can’t remember. I’ve never had rutabaga. but I’ve had mashed turnips before.

I’m not exactly a fan of radishes, but I’m willing to give it a try. I hate cauliflower with a passion, but I’ve been mixing it with other things to mask the grossness.

I’m a fan of black bean pasta, but eating too much of it and broccoli ended up with me in the ER.

I really love broccoli. Eat it raw or cooked without anything else on it.

I hate tofu, but I think the problem was the way I prepared it because General Tso tofu is delicious.

I also enjoy beef, chicken, fish and turkey. I will eat pork, but not often.

I love pollock. Once I found out that it was battered and used in Filet-O-Fish, I’ve desired it ever since.

It’s so hard to get a hold of!

I like shrimp, crab, oyster, lobster and squid. Have had canned octopus. Was very angry at how chewy it was. I also ingest krill, but that’s in capsule form.

If a blue whale can gorge itself on krill, so can I.

We’ll not mention the size differential.

My favorite carb heavy (I spose?) dish is pizza. I was able to get some today while I was out. I normally don’t buy it, but I had the opportunity and grabbed it. I normally make my own from scratch – down to the dough and sauce.

I enjoy PBJ sandwiches, but since I’m extra, I’ll make the bread.

I’ve also made preserves and peanut butter before.

Banana pudding is one of the favorite desserts I’ve made. It took so long though!

I make sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and ginger cookies.

I make various forms of fried rice, lasagna, stir fry and ramen.

My dad told me it took too long for me to make ramen and he just uses the packet. The one I make has spinach, carrots, garlic, onion, an egg… etc and etc.

I’ve made paella, which was very difficult to collect ingredients for.

I also love the basics I grew up with… like mac-n-cheese, liver, rice and onions, spaghetti, mashed potatoes.

Since I’ve been… like this… I guess I lost some interest in cooking. I used to make a lot of prepped meals.

Oh, oh! I also make regular and almond crackers, tortillas and tortilla chips.

…there has got to be a healthier way to make tortilla chips… I swear. I’ll find it.

This list could keep going on and on. Including yucca and regular potato fries… along with sweet potato fries.

New desires… oxtail and curry goat. I can already make jerk chicken. Got a niiice jerk dry seasoning mix.

I’ve also made ingredients for other things.

Such as: Custard, powdered sugar, butter, meringue, whipped cream, dough

I’ve been talking so much about food now that I want buttered popcorn.

… since I don’t have a microwave, I’ll need to pop the popcorn and melt some butter.

  1. Hahaha, love this post. As for the tortilla chips, perhaps you can try an airfryer!

    1. Been debating that or the oven. They’re so delicate when wet too, which is an even bigger problem.
