I’m cycling through three versions of the same song… by three separate artists. I hate to appear biased, but Celine Dion’s version is the best of all three.
Often, I’ve been curious about what would happen if my favorite artists covered song from other singers.
I-Ten’s version of “Alone” was the original and it sounds smooth and sweet. Their guitar is heavily emphasized in the song. You can hear it and the drums together easily, but it’s louder than the drums.
Heart’s cover was a rock ballad and is very ‘in your face’. The guitar is under the drums in parts. They do have an excellent version of the original guitar solo that makes up for it though.
Celine Dion’s version of Heart’s cover was very sweet and clear. I used to play triangle, so I loved hearing it in this version. I also hear the glockenspiel too. It sounds like the bass was emphasized from the I-Ten version into the Heart version and the song was slowed down. The bass guitar and drums are right next to each other.
And the violins. Because it’s not Celine if a violin isn’t present somewhere. I think the guitar solo is violins with her.
Celine’s version is nowhere near as slow as I-Ten, but it’s a happy medium between the two previous artists.
And I’ve spent nearly two hours listening to these three songs. Not bad if I do say so.
So, to sum up my day. I managed to find a plumber that won’t cost as much as the company I’d picked for the drain in the bath tub. My PT went well today, and I have new exercises… and yeah. I have two assignments to tackle tonight.
That’s it!
