This is December 4th, I think. Maybe? I don’t know.
It’s been a long night and I’m very tired. I’m angry because I have to get up early to voice all of this stuff for the Podcast.
Anyway, I believe I mentioned freakish bouncing mice? I literally did want to scream when the thing started doing that. It briefly had something popup about the touchpad. I plugged in my corded mouse (glad I have it) because this laptop also doesn’t have Bluetooth apparently!
One help site suggested checking the GUI interface through booting.
I booted the laptop into UEFI and checked the mouse out. Guess what? The mouse was fine. It wasn’t a problem with the hardware. So, I started thinking it was a driver issue.
But which one??
I tried and managed to get online because now suddenly the NIC card was working correctly! I also cancelled the orders for the USB to WiFi and the USB hub. Chill pad and battery were definitely still coming though.
I visited synaptics.com but couldn’t find the driver… or anything really. Onward to hp.com and went through the configuration with a very jumpy mouse to get to the drivers. Installing the touchpad driver, deleting from the Device Manager then rebooting – uninstalling Synaptics. In a loop for over half an hour. It was bothering me because there were two drivers hanging out in there with no clue as to what they were. You’d think it was a touchpad or some other mouse related driver, right?
Wrong. After searching, I found out that the problem was with the AMD Graphics Driver. I had to install that.
What on earth does that have to do with the touchpad? I have no idea.
But it fixed the mouse. So, there’s that.
November 30, 2021 – I was up all night working on this laptop. I tried to install the Bluetooth driver, but it didn’t work. I might have missed which one it is because there’s a spot for it under settings, but no driver to reach anywhere.
After downloading countless drivers and installing, going through the matching process with HP, I was nearly done with the laptop (as far as repairs go), just trying to figure out if the ethernet will be working. I’ve done my best to install the required drivers into it… but you never know really.
I also found out why the internet was still so slow. The “Link Speed (Receive/Transmit)” was pretty low. Less than 80/80 as a matter of fact. Her laptop simply can’t move any faster.
Funny. That lack of speed was why I checked for viruses in the first place.
I woke up this day around 10:40AM, because I was in bed around 5AM.
Bad Miss J, I know. I lose time when I get engrossed in something.
The most I did was poke the laptop to make sure it was there. There’s something to be said about sleep deprivation. Aside from how unhealthy it is. I’m just glad the mechanical part is nearly over.
That evening, I did test the ethernet. It was barely working if that. According to her system, she was supposed to get 100/100. The left light was rapidly blinking orange and the right light was solid white. I opted to not even bother dealing with the ethernet.
Now, I need to create disks, make sure all the screws are in place and set it up for its first test. Not done yet it seems.
How did it all go?
Stay tuned to find out!
